AN EXPERT IN THERAPY, BLENDING SCIENCE WITH COMPASSION
Picture
Dr. Dana Hamann received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Iowa, with an emphasis in evidence-based therapy. She completed her predoctoral residency at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, obtaining further specialization in cognitive behavior therapy for anxiety disorders, substance use, and insomnia. She gained expertise working with older adults seeking therapy or neuropsychological testing. Dr. Hamann completed postdoctoral supervision through the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria, where her clinical work focused on substance use treatment.

Dr. Hamann provides specialty care to adults with anxiety, depression, mild substance use disorders, insomnia and grief. She also offers therapy to help individuals navigate life transitions, such as changes in relationship status, work satisfaction, health, or age milestones. She has specialized training in evidence-based treatments including
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Behavior Activation (BA)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Mostly, she has a strong desire to help clients live meaningful lives. Rather than spending years in therapy focusing on deficits, she believes that change can best be achieved by helping people focus on strengths and learn skills to manage life’s challenges, all while continuing to move forward.
